[li] There is no limitation on profanity. Most sites either prohibit it or ask their members to keep it at a minimum, however, I have never had an issue with someone swearing outrageously. Of course if things get out of hand, we will have to create and enforce a rule against excessive profanity.
[/li][li] No god moding, however, some powerplay is accepted. Certain actions are acceptable forms of powerplay, including shoving, grabbing, kicking, throwing, etc. However, death or severe injuries are not allowed without the other character's consent.
[/li][li] This is a mature roleplay community recommended for ages 14+ If you cannot handle profanity and some suggestive themes, then you should not join this rpg. Discretion is advised. Some content may be objectionable.
[/li][li] Don't flood anywhere on the forums. Try not to double post, and if you do, delete one of the duplicates. Spam is not tolerated at all, so do not spam the c-box or the forums.
[/li][li] Do not use any images that exceed the width of this forum. Any graphics posted on the forums should have a width no longer than 500. Anything longer than that will distort the width of the forums.
[/li][li] Avatars must have a width of 100. Any avatars or signature banners must be related to the character on that account. We do not want non-related images posted on the in-character forums. All members are provided with a default avatar. It should be changed as soon as possible.
account policy
[/li][li] Don't register if you know that you will not have time to roleplay. Save us the trouble of having to remove you ourselves.
[/li][li] Display names must be your character's full name. Their are no exceptions! For human characters, you must have at least a first and last name. Middle names are optional. For horses, we would prefer one-worded names, but two or three may be acceptable for tame horses. Do not give a wild horse a long show name. Use proper caps, no numbers, and no symbols.
[/li][li] Nicknames and aliases should not be your display name. As stated above, display names must be the name of your character.
[/li][li] You may only have one character per account. This is probably the most annoying rule of all, but we would like to keep members, characters, and accounts organized in a specific manner. The only exception is if you want to play a tame horse alternatively with your human character. In this case, you may play your human and their horse on one account.
[/li][li] Only one character may be created at a time. Once your first application is accepted, you may create a separate account and start working on a second character. However, after your third accepted application, you must spend points to create more characters.
roleplay policy
[/li][li] Proper grammar is required. If you can't spell or use your capitol letters correctly, you definitely shouldn't be joining a moderately literate role playing game.
[/li][li] Posts should be at least a paragraph long. We like creativity and members who like to be active and interactive. We only require that our members submit in-game posts that are at least one paragraph long (a minimum of five to six sentences). This is not hard at all. We do not require essay-long posts, as some rpgs do, but we do expect you to be creative and well detailed within your posts!
[/li][li] Posts must be written in third person. Please refrain from first person posts, except when your character is thinking or speaking.
[/li][li] Liquid time is allowed, but limited. Although you may have already replied to a thread with one character, you can still roleplay while waiting for a reply. We only ask that you create as many posts as you can actively handle. If you reply to five threads, and can only manage two or three, then please don't reply to the others. Give other members a chance to roleplay! We prefer that you only roleplay the same character in a minimal of two to three different threads.
human characters
[/li][li] The people of Hunter Creek. As a human character, you become a resident of Hunter Creek County. You may decide whether you recently moved to HC, or if you've lived in HC for awhile. Human characters must have a first and last name as their display name. Middle names are optional.
[/li][li] Life is what you make it. Hunter Creek is run by it's members. You decide what path your character's choose to walk down. Feel free to think outside of the box and make things interesting. Invite other members to become involved in your unique storyline, whether new relationships arise, or something bizarre or tragic happens that effects more than just your characters.
[/li][li] Life has no limits. From marriage to divorce, pro life to pro choice. Anything goes. A few bad apples in the bunch won't hurt a thing. In fact, it may make things more interesting for everyone involved! Whether one man is threatening the population of wild horses in Hunter Creek, and another is trying to save them. Any storyline is readily acceptable.
[/li][li] People need to make a living. Instead of a money system, we've decided to implement a point system that can be taken advantage of by not only human characters, but non-human characters as well. Earning points will be required to make a living in Hunter Creek. Points can be spent on rent and living costs, boarding expenses, and other in-character necessities.
non-human characters
[/li][li] Non-human characters include wild horses and domestic horses. You may decide to be a domestic horse, which is either owned by a human character played by another individual, or is up for bid at the local auction barn. Undomesticated horses may decide to live in the wild or be caught and put up for bid at the auction.
[/li][li] Creation of domestic horse characters may be limited. The reason for this is that the number of domestic horses must not exceed the number of human characters. In the past it has come to my attention that not all domestic horses are bought off the auction. Some of them had to wait weeks before someone finally replied to their auction post. To prevent this, domestic horses are limited depending on the population of human characters.
[/li][li] Some domestic horses are given the option to go wild. If a domestic horse has been at the auction for longer than two weeks without a reply to their post, they may be given the chance to go wild instead. This way the character is not wasted in the auction barn. This also applies when a domestic horse's owner has gone inactive for more than two weeks, even if the person has put in a notice for their absence.
[/li][li] Wild horses may only be mustangs. While domestic horses can be any breed, wild horses who are truly wild should be mustangs. If a tamed horse escapes captivity, that's another story, but it's still not technically a feral horse.
[/li][li] Spring, summer, and early fall are mating seasons. Horses may only breed during these seasons. Tame horses should be bred by their owners, rather than by free will. Forced breeding is allowed for those who wish to breed specific lines (the lines may be excellent but the horses might not be too fond of each other). In the wild, horses have the option of choosing a mate. It requires points to successfully have a foal.
[/li][li] The herd consists of several small bands. All of the wild horses in Hunter Creek are apart of the herd, but the herd is separated into several groups of horses. They each share a common territory - the wilderness of Hunter Creek County. Forming a band requires a certain amount of points to be spent. Points can be earned by all members of the potential band and transferred to the assumed leader, who can then make the band official. Although all of the horses are from the same "herd," they do not have to be in allegiance to one another. Being apart of the "herd" as a whole, just means all of the horses share common grounds. Each band is like an individual herd of its own.
[/li][li] Once a band is official, it's up for grabs! The makeup of bands shifts over time as young horses are driven out of the band they were born into and join other bands, or as young stallions challenge older males for dominance. Once a band becomes official by spending the necessary points to create it, it then becomes fair game for other horses to try to steal. This may not seem fair, but it's the circle of life in Hunter Creek.
annual horse drives
[/li][li] Roundups are a special event that occur twice a year. This event is held by, "Free to Roam" (FTR) an advocacy group made up of volunteers from the Wildlife Conservation and Management Team of Hunter Creek, as well as Taisewell Stables, and the Equine Veterinary Hospital. The purpose of these roundups are to protect the wild horses of Hunter Creek, and prevent the government from getting involved with their own methods of population control. Roundups usually occur in the spring and fall.
the points system
[/li][li] Points are earned by creating posts. For every one post a member creates, they earn five points. These points may be used to buy perks, but are also required in order to pay living expenses, boarding fees, etc.
[/li][li] Perks are rewards you earn by spending points. Perks may include both in-game and out of character rewards, from special secondary titles, to making your very own board on the forums!
[/li][li] There's a price to pay for procreation. To limit the amount of offspring (human and non-human) that are born into the game from existing characters, members are required to buy a perk which rewards you the opportunity to have a baby or foal.
character adoption
[/li][li] Players who are quitting can put their characters up for adoption. If their characters are apart of an on-going storyline, they are able to put their characters up for adoption. This means new members, or existing members can adopt that character and continue their role.
[/li][li] Offspring may be put up for character adoption. If a human or non-human character gives birth, the offspring may be submitted for character adoption. This way the parents do not have to roleplay their offspring, and another player can join in on an on-going storyline.
